Ankita Bhandari Murder Case: Ankita Bhandari was cremated on Sunday (25 September) at NIT Ghat in Srinagar, Pauri Garhwal, Uttarakhand . After the appeal of CM Dhami, Ankita’s family agreed to perform the last rites. Ankit Bhandari was murdered only because he refused to provide ‘special service’ to the customers even after being told by the hotel owner. Ankita’s body was recovered from a canal by the police on Saturday, six days after she went missing from a resort located in Rishikesh’s Laxman Jhula area.
CM Dhami appeals to Ankita’s family: Uttarakhand CM Dhami, while appealing to Ankita’s family, had said, “SIT is probing the case from many angles and the evidence related to the case has been kept safe. I assure that no attempt has been made to destroy the evidence. We will try to expedite the matter in the fast track court. We will not spare the guilty.” After which his last rites were performed on Sunday.
DIG Garhwal Range, K.S. Nagnyal said that after compiling maximum evidence against the accused, we will send the charge sheet to the court as soon as possible. An SIT has also been constituted to probe the matter. We note that no evidence of any kind is left untouched in the case.
The last rites were refused till the post-mortem report came: At the same time, when Ankita Bhandari ‘s father came to collect her body outside the post-mortem house in Srinagar for the last rites, there started massive protests. In fact, after receiving a call from Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, the family agreed to perform the last rites of Ankita. The family had earlier refused to perform the last rites till the post-mortem report came out.
Ankita’s brother Ajay Singh Bhandari had said, “We will not perform her last rites until her postmortem report is given. We saw in his provisional report that he was beaten up and thrown into the river. But we are waiting for the final report.”
On Friday, the police arrested Pulkit Arya , the owner of the resort and son of Vinod Arya, a former minister in the Uttarakhand government, in this murder case . After the matter came to the limelight, BJP took action and suspended Vinod Arya and his son Ankit Arya from the party.
